My Devices
The hardware assigned to you, in plain sight — because you should be able to see what your company can see about your devices.
My Devices is an optional feature your IT team can switch on or off for the whole organization. If it isn't in your employee-portal sidebar, your admin has it turned off — reach out to them if you think you should have access.
Why this exists
Most IT tools are a one-way mirror: your company can see your devices, but you can't. ShiftControl does it the other way around. My Devices shows you the same device information your IT team sees — just limited to your devices. Nothing hidden, nothing to request.
What you'll see
If your organization manages devices and you have one assigned, My Devices appears in your employee-portal sidebar. Each device shows:
- Name and type — for example, your MacBook Pro or your phone.
- Operating system — what it's running, and the version.
- Encryption status — whether the disk is encrypted (which protects your data if the device is lost or stolen).
- Last check-in — the last time the device reported in.
Click a device to see more detail, like its model, serial number, and storage.
What you can (and can't) do here
My Devices is read-only. You can look at everything about your own devices, but actions like locking or wiping a device stay with your IT team — this page is about visibility, not control.
You only ever see devices assigned to you — never anyone else's. If a device you use is missing here, it may not be assigned to you yet; let your IT team know and they can fix the assignment.
Common questions
Why does it say my device isn't encrypted?
Encryption protects the data on your device if it's lost or stolen. If yours shows as not encrypted, that's worth flagging to IT — they can help turn it on.
A device I use isn't listed
The list shows devices assigned to you in your company's system. A shared or newly issued machine might not be linked to you yet. Ask IT to assign it to you.
